Arachnopanic

Arachnopanic!

Jeepers creepers, what’s a girl to do?
A great big spider just climbed into my shoe.
Don’t have a Prince Charming to drive the fella out.
Cannot think what else to do but panic and to shout.
Guess I’d better collect my wits and make a plan.
Get a glass of water, a squeegee and a pan.
Sacrifice my shoes and pour the water in.
Ruining a  Jimmy Choo surely is a sin!
When I poured it in the spider scurried out.
Lifted up the squeegee and gave him quite a clout.
Squeegeed the remains into the little pan.
I’ll give it a scrubbing—later—when I can.
Go out to the garden to empty the remains.
All my sins will wash away, later when it rains.
No Prince Charming needed. I handled it myself.
Next time I’ll store my Jimmy Choos safely on a shelf!

Today’s prompt word was “Panic.”

Scream. Loudly and repeatedly and run as far as one can get from the spider. OMG…ewwwww!!! (a gentleman I know encountered one of those – a tarantula right? and stepped on it. Squish. ) Double ICK.

Found this guy on the steps to my garage, not in my shoe. Gotta grant a girl a bit of poetic license, especially when she’s at a time disadvantage. Just passed Hannibal and Canton, Missouri. Very close to the Iowa state line. Will see my nephew and family tonight, then on to St. Paul tomorrow to celebrate my niece’s birthday with her.

A blood-curdling scream followed by a string of swear words — we knew after the first time we all shat ourselves downstairs here — would be followed by the upstairs bathroom door opening and teen daughter’s gasping bellow, “Can someone come kill this spider in the shower??” I had to tell another daughter’s friend today — about to decorate for the baby shower — that there are likely spiders in EVERY corner of the ceilings. I don’t mind them — up there. We also don’t put up streamers often. Great poem, Judy. 🙂

Oh, my — well, thank YOU. I’m sorry to be so out of touch lately. I had been all but consumed by the baby shower preparations. That was today, so I may return to my normal insanity very soon. Oy.

I felt it was my fault because I’ve been traveling so much that I haven’t had the time to spend much time reading other blogs. Sometimes it comes down to either having time to read or write and I always choose the writing first.. A mental health issue. Ha.

Nooo, it’s probably (like me) just that you know that if you don’t get it written now, it may not happen later. You are sharing your trip with us — it’s been great fun, honestly! Thank you for doing that!

Fun to share when kind friends like you take the time to read it. Little Duck had an exciting day with about 50 photos I need to cull through and edit. Unfortunately, we forgot and left him in his seatbelt in the car. I’d go get him but it is thundering and lightning and pelting rain. Hope he isn’t scared. We are in a hotel in Des Moines, heading for St. Paul tomorrow.

He’s probably fine, lol — you left him the keys so he could listen to the radio, right?? I used to love traveling — I would still do so, if money allowed. So, travel for at least two, maybe seventeen or so. You’re gathering with family tomorrow, right?

Had dinner with my nephew and his wife tonight. It was a shock as he now looks so much like my dad! Tomorrow I’ll see his sister, my niece, and her husband and later, her three daughters and my sister Betty.
