Faded Dahlia: Flower of the Day, Oct. 15, 2016

I had a number of shots I liked of dahlias in full bloom, but for some reason, this faded dahlia won out over them. There is something so 40’s about this photo—its limpness and faded chiffon colors.

I know.. I think we need these time-outs and sometimes illness or depression is the only excuse we find to give them to ourselves. And then it feels so good to go out into the world again, after this renewal.

Yes, the days are getting better. I’m getting more of both physical energy and mental upbeat-ness. (There’s always room for a new term, right?) I had a CT scan Thursday and it only took two tries to get a vein that would hold up when the IV was inserted.

It is because the God of photography thinks it would be unfair to make you perfect in everything! You have developed such a photographic talent and skill in all areas. He gives me this small rag of talent to see beauty in things others might consider to be ugly.

At least not for the near future. I’m done traveling until the winter is over. Maybe early summer, we will go back and visit Beth if Cassie is there. We’ve kind of already talked about it. She is so busy during the school work. She is in two Choirs and travels for that. She also travels as a guest lecturer to. Yep she is smart to say the least.

Judy, I love, love love this flower! In fact, I love it so much that I am asking your permission to paint it. May I do that?

Thank you so much! A photo of a painting of a photo works for me! It may be awhile. I just started a watercolor of a different flower. Think I’ll do this one in pastels.
