Unique Gifts
Will anyone give me valentines? No, my friend, they won’t,
for the ones who might are absent and the ones around me don’t.
I haven’t romance in my life near enough to kiss
unless there’s someone close at hand I’ve been inclined to miss.
I know the famous day is here. The streets are lined with flowers,
balloons and underpants with hearts and teddy bears in towers.
Cups with hearts and arrows. Chocolates tied in bows.
Who all these gifts will go to, heaven only knows.
I’m sure that none are meant for me, for I don’t have a honey
who knows how to buy anything with credit card or money.
Yes, he sleeps with me at night and gives me lots of kisses,
but holidays and gifts and flowers are all things that he disses.
So I’ll be satisfied with gifts not found in any mall—
like how he pees outside now, and comes running when I call.

The prompt today was expectation.
Love the surprise ending.
He’s adorable.
Happy Valentines Day Judy.

Different coasts..I’m on the west coast of Mexico! I love Cape Cod, though, and Provincetown! Happy V. Day to you, Frances.

Excellent. I feel sad for people without a little puppy love.

I know. This vacation together has been good for us both. He’s learning to stay fairly near without a leash and I’m trusting him more not to wreak devastation in the house. And I’m certainly improving my ball throwing skills.

Ha.. couldn’t name it that or it would have given it away, but otherwise, perfect title.

I am too, Mary. He has been so happy to have all the attention. Everyone knows him. All the people at my table tonight said, Oh, the Scottie? We know him! He is so adorable.. Mothers shouldn’t boast, but he really is.

Your puppy seems happy without even knowing it is Valentine’s Day which means you have Valentine’s Day everyday. I also enjoyed the sound of the couplets.

Is this all being kept track of in some great blogging grade book???

Yikes! I REALLY hope there isn’t a blogging grade book… I’ve spent far far too many years in education. But maybe there is a score card for the blogging game that we all love so much.

Thanks, Purple Pen. We are having so much fun and growing closer. He draws a lot of friends. Just today three little kids threw the ball for him for a long time. They had so much fun and I loved watching them.

Yes. He even runs into the waves sometimes on his own now, as well.
