In the Shadows
Cold hibiscus tea (called jamaica) is very popular in Mexico. It’s also very good for lowering blood pressure. After suffering the effects of blood pressure medicine for seven months, I’ve chosen to regulate with diet, including oatmeal, green tea and jamaica and it seems to be working! I’m not sure if this hibiscus in my garden is a jamaica variety, but it is the right color for it.
Dried Jamaica flowers for tea. (Pronounced Huh my’ kuh, not like the country.)Jamaica tea. I added green tea as well. It’s usually served cold in Mexico or as an ingredient in ponche, an alcoholic punch that packs a punch!
For Cee’s daily flower prompt.
Does it taste like Rose Hips? I wonder since you said it carries a punch?

Loved the picture of the hibuscus. I didn’t know you can mix it up with Green Tea. Well, I ought to give it a try 🙂

It is a special variety of hibiscus and I mix it with green tea because both lower blood pressure. Trying so hard to regulate it with my diet.

Many meds started out as herbs/flowers (as you surely know). There’s no reason to think these and a diet change aren’t enough to control bp. Man-made drugs are man-sold — always a questionable prospect, but especially so with meds. Either way, friend, good luck. 🙂 ❤

Thanks, Carol. Still adjusting. Up and down. I’m beginning to think the oatmeal makes the biggest difference.

A Spanish “j” like jicama … or “Juan”. I think it was the Woody Allen film Bananas, with Diane Keaton, where they made a big deal of that name? Cheers Jamie

Just listened to a Luis Urrea book where the narrator mispronounced it all the way through the book.
