Commitment Issues

Commitment Issues

I breakfast on oatmeal and vile green tea.
Oats aids in digestion, the tea makes me pee
and helps me to swallow the Omega 3
that lowers blood pressure and lubes up my knee.
I do pool aerobics when the water’s not cold.
I open my mind so it doesn’t get old.
I don’t shoot up drugs or overdo liquor.
I try to eat food that is good for my ticker.

Broccoli, whole grains, jamaica, white beans

to lower my blood pressure by other means
than those dreaded pills that make me feel old
by sapping my energy, dulling my bold.
I can give up the salt and give up the nookie,
but please don’t deprive me of my evening cookie
or maybe a dozen or two, more or less.
In my frenzy, I sometimes lose count, I confess.

If I’m going to have meat, a potato’s a must.
Protein without carbs is simply unjust.
Dark chocolate’s allowed, but I fear just a bit,
and when it comes to chocolate, I never can quit.
Who wants to commit to a life with no sin?
No pasta, no cookies, no chocolate, no gin?
I try to be good but I’m still not the best,
for I cannot commit to a diet with no zest.

The prompt today was commit.

Sounds like you have a pretty good plan, Judy. I would add that maybe you could also have just a sliver or just a few sips of anything you desire, whenever you desire it. A very small portion isn’t likely to harm much (uh, unless you do it all day long, lol).

Chocolate sufferings are almost worse than the butter ones, or the baked stuffed ones… Milk chocolate covered cherries (1… 2, if I am out of Dunkin Donuts coffee). Or 3 Musketeers. Almost unlimited. 🙂 I know.. it’s too hard to forget the buttercreams..

For me, dark chocolate and almonds, toffee, caramels. Snickers over 3 Musketeers, Pecan turtles over chocolate covered cherries. Coconuts or any nuts over butterdreams. We’d do great at sharing a box of mixed chocolates! No fights over favorites.

Sh*t, I just drooled all over this keyboard. 😉 Oh, wow, you’d take all the chocolates I don’t prefer and leave me the raspberry cream?? I love you!!

We’ve gotta meet up one of these years, Carol. And you can bet there will be chocolates. All of the creams are thine! No Russell Stover or Whitman’s though. These chocolates of my youth are vile. See’s are okay, though.

That was a great poem, covers the good and the bad, the cookies are the downfall. Better to have more nookie and less cookie, me thinks. You should live a long life with your dietary attitude, just quit driving into cement walls
