Happy Anniversary to Me

I just received notification from Word Press that I registered my blog five years ago today. It’s very strange, because although I set it up on September 18, I didn’t post a blog until March 27. Either I was trying to figure out how to do so or I was waiting for our book to come out, as I thought I was setting it up to promote the book. Little did I know!

I posted daily throughout April,  when I joined NaPoWriMo and wrote a poem a day. I backslid after that and only started posting daily again the next April.  I’ve posted every day since then. This is my 3,455th blog. Yes, if you are thinking it is an addiction, you are probably right, but a quite benign one.  If you are curious, HERE is the first blog I ever wrote. What I’ve been doing since then is quite a departure from what I thought I’d be doing. Thanks to all of you who have kept me here, reading your blogs and reciprocating with mine.

My readership has increased by leaps and bounds (literally) since someone “gifted” me with four kittens.  They take a very active part in my blogging life.

Including a bit of blind unauthorized editing.

OKCforgottenman even sent me a celebratory cake!!!

Congratulations! We are old-timers on WordPress 🙂 Blogging when other people were still wondering if it was “a thing” or not. I started like you. Technically I started in February 2012, but I didn’t really publish anything until May. So they always congratulate me, but I know I didn’t really do anything with it until three months later and I didn’t get REALLY started until July.

You’ve got a great blog. It’s fun to read. Great pictures, wonderful writing. Lots of fun. I’ve been following you I think more or less since you began or close to it. Let’s keep doing it!

I think so, too. For many years you had the most comments on my blog and you are still in the top 5, I believe. I’m right up there, too, as I always answer comments.. ha. What prompted you to start a blog? Was it to promote your book?

I know..I’m afraid I’m hooked. People keep asking if I’ve given any of them away, but I can’t bear to separate them. If one is separated for too long, he or she cries and cries. How could I be responsible for that?

Sorry if my absence has made your heart grow freunder! Judy, I’ve not been 100% for a bit now but I have finished my magnum opus and it should be on Amazon in about a couple of weeks. I shall try to summon up the effort to keep you all rolling in the aisles again soon. Thanks for your concern, and remember you’ve got another 15,00o blogs yet to write 🙂 xxx Anton

BTW, I have two celebrations today. Your fifth anniversary has arrived on my eldest Grandson’s twenty-first birthday.

Hi Jane. It did!!. I’m still around as I’ve told Judy. Just been slowed down a bit, but in my enforced sluggishness I’ve finished a whale of a novel (see Amazon in about 2 weeks time ), but you know me. You have to decide which bits to believe. It’s quite tricky actually! Love and look after yourself xx Anton

You mean to say you’ve been writing a novel while I’ve imagined you languishing in bed! I was inordinately happy to receive a message from our lovely Judy, to say you had been in touch. I’ll watch out for the novel – though you haven’t given me the title. Love, xx Jane

I did much the same thing. When Xanga was having difficulty, I opened an account here, just in case I suddenly couldn’t blog there. I didn’t use this site for a couple of years, but then, as others moved to WP, I decided to move as well — I now copy most of my blogs there as well, so those few who are left can read them and comment.

You are such an inspiration to us newbies. It is indeed fun, and addicting. I have enjoyed putting my thought on the computer, but it is the “people you meet along the way” that make it so fun. I used to enjoy pen pals in my younger days, and this tops that for sure. Congratulations.
