Does anyone know the name of this beautiful flower?
By forgottenman’s suggestion, here is a photo of the entire spray of flowers. They are about a foot long. En mass and from a distance, they look like wisteria, but the flower is completely different.
I don’t know what it is but I want one!

Lovely purples–the first photo looks like a cloud of itself somehow, and the second more spread out and separate.

My comment was going to be just “ooh!” — then I saw your question. It looks almost like an orchid of sorts, but I truly don’t know what it is. Have you found Tony Tomeo’s blog yet — he’s a horticulturist specialist working in trees in NoCal, but seems to know about flowers too.

oh, that’s an inspiring violet cascade. But what they call it botanically, I have no idea. Love to know if you find out.

I found a similar one, but they do not look the same: PETREA VOLUBILIS

It is a petrea volubilis, also known as a queen’s wreath.. I put another photo of it on my blog later and discovered the name but didn’t go back and put it on this one. Good eye, Mirna.. and thanks for identifying it!!
