Noreen, the Crimea lilies I found online look more like the Easter lily shape. These look more like cannas, but much larger and sleeker.
I’ve seen the same shape of bloom growing out of a tall plant that looks like a banana plant. I believe there are some at the Chapala Society. I’ll ask if my neighbors know what they are. Mysteries, mysteries.
Dear Judy, Received your question just now on the site, RE This photograph –
from the size of the spadex (reaching to top of surround) I would suppose it to be
Monstera deliciosa.
Very hard to be certain as photo does not show more of the plant. You mentioned that it is a large plant therefore – given the size of the central element, and thick appearance of the leaves, I would imagine ‘Monstera’.
I hope this finds you in good spirits and remain,
Yours sincerely,
PL

Dear Philip, Thanks for your prompt reply. It does look like it could be a very early stage of the fruit of that plant. My neighbors are coming for dinner tomorrow so I’ll ask if I can sneak over and take a closer look and get a larger photo. When I do, I’ll make sure to publish it and let you know.
Amazing – that’s what it is

Hi Judy – could it be a Crimea Lily? I have some white ones in the back garden, and they look similar when they are opening! Hugs
