Can’t believe that I wrote this yesterday and forgot to post it to dVerse Poets! So here it is, a bit late.

About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

OMG~!! You did it again. You have described me exactly~! But I have said that before, often the reverse~! My problem is photos, They have a magic way of making me look old and awful with blue bruising and red scabs all over my arms~!. They bring out all of the flaws, except maybe not the inner ones, my post’s take care of that~!

Now back to my dull life, well not so dull, it is raining, really raining, not one of those piss-ant things that hardly wets the, (where there used to be grass). Rainwater tanks filling though, and tomorrow I will show Maria (again) how to be sure that the precious water is turned off after each use, rather than filling the septec tank with unneeded water.

Yesterday I had a visit of two retired teachers for lunch. I looked forward to being entertained by intelligent people, one taught History, and the other Math…Wow I would have a fine time visiting with them, but they seem to have turned off their intelligence when they retired and it was a dull day. The only thing I learned from them is the ability of two women able to drink three bottles of expensive wine at one dinner sitting~! Maybe it was my fault, I do not know if my intelligence was above or below theirs and I made the mistake of opening the wine cabinet when one asked if I had any more of that “good red wine”…. but it was not on par, and I did not seem equal at a time when I was hungry for good conversation, while they only wanted to be retiring, and even mentioned that they could take a little nap in my spare bedroom, if they drank too much. Well now everyone knows that that is the daybed for my two cats~!

Now I will see if I can come up with something mean that will make my (co-posters) angry again, just to fulfill my day. Then I can take a picture of myself with a smile on my face.

Thanks for the poem, I wish there was a safe way I could plagiarize it.

For me, when I look in the mirror it’s always been about the eyes. I think it has to do with processing my thoughts for the day, trying to maintain some order behind those eyes.

Yes we are getting older, but the insomnia thing that’s going around is actually getting a name. There are articles all over the internet on how to cope, how to deal with the stress, how to function. How bad a time are we must be having to have a national insomnia crisis!

This is so full of amazing details! I love the idea of seeing the real me by not using a mirror. My favorite detail….so specific and so minute is the one about your broken nail from prying the lid off the cans. Mundane but revealing. So glad to get to know you here!

I love this image of you – it’s almost a video, there’s so much movement in it! I agree with Lillian – that broken fingernail is perfectly noted. I see you moving around, busy, snipping at plants and hair and putting things straight. Lovely.

Thanks, Sarah. I’m not too fast responding because I no longer receive notifications, so if I ever overlook you it is not intentional. Your comment is very affirmative! oxox
