Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian, any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

          I was told this on World Campus Afloat! It was on a lecture we were given in an interdisciplinary course that dealt with the next port we were coming to..explaining the culture, beliefs, currency, tiny bit of the language. For some reason this came up as the Jewish version of the Golden Rule. Can’t believe that I remember that or what relevance it had to the port we were approaching.

            I hope you realize that the “Jewish version” was formulated way before the “Golden Rule.” It is in “The Ethics of Our Fathers,” compiled in about 3rd century C.E. of the much earlier recorded material, going back to about 7th century B.C.E.
            Do you remember which port it was?

              I thought it must have been since it’s a much older religion..and that distinction is perhaps what is wrong with the world right now–the inability to understand how and why someone thinks as they do––a lack of empathy.

    I think that in many circumstances people have their eyes focused on “The Pearly Gates” and that they alone will be chauffeured into that land of milk and honey. Many of these “Christian types” need to realize that salvation is a group effort where everyone is important. 🙂
