Mother: A Photo A Week Challenge

For Nancy Merrill’s special Mother’s Day challenge, we were asked to post a photo of our mother. This is my very favorite photo of my mother and me. My mother lived to be 91 and never really got old. May I inherit that capacity from her. R.I.P. Mother!!!!ย  xooxox

About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

Thanks, Sadje. It had been 7 years since there was a baby in the house. My mom had developed some muscle!! Weight-lifting hadn’t become the craze so she resorted to baby-lifting.

This post came into my view/email at the exact time a friend was Skyping me about “is this what old feels like” (he’ll be 70 in July). I told him “old” isn’t a specific number. Your caption speaks to that.

Motherhood is highly underrated as a job. I used to list it on my resume and described all the things I did as a mom. It actually got my resume looked at — and it was true. Motherhood is one serious job.
