“Intruder”: My Pick for CBWC, Sept 22, 2022

This is so bizarre, but this little cat stranger has been trying to break into my house by any means possible for the past two days.  Here she is climbing the screen, getting on the crossbar of the security grill and clawing at the window. She then jumps down into the space between the bars and the window, squeezes out and climbs up the screen again. She does this over and over, then goes to different doors and tries to get in. She tried going into the back yard, was chased by dogs and just jumped up on the ledge between the top of the wall and the ground and calmly crouched while the dogs went crazy barking.  I cannot get her to leave. Both big cats are afraid of her and I can’t feed them outside as she comes and runs them off and eats the food. When I let Zoe out, she scared Zoe as well, who ran back inside. I put her in a carrier cage for awhile and the cats still wouldn’t go out to eat with her in the cage outside. When I go out, she curls around my feet and trips me… just wants to be close constantly but it is throwing my entire household off. Don’t know what to do. I think she’s an abandoned pet. Doesn’t seem feral, but we just can’t function with her here. What to do? Next thing, she’ll be climbing up on the roof and jumping down the chimney.

    It is so surreal. Last night I heard a big noise on the roof and thought it was she. It wasn’t until I saw the pictures on the wall askew that I realized it was an earthquake. When I leave the house, she glues herself to me. It’s like we knew each other in a former life!!!!

    So sad, she has been abandoned and is looking for a new home and family to take care of her. I wish I had her here. I have two like that now which had been abandoned. One made a great addition and the other is one is still here but never could really fit in. She loves me but my other two do not like her. She tries so hard to fit in, but they were here first~ Guess I am a sucker for such, I have rescued several through the years. The person who abandoned several cats at the same time writes about how much she loves animals, but she went off and abandoned several, some of which I have found homes for.

      Morrie was abandoned but he fit in well here. This cat is just making us all miserable and it makes me sad. She appeared at the worst possible time…during an earthquake and just as I think I need a hip replacement and can barely walk with a lot of pain so hard to deal with her. How I hope she’ll move on.
      She’s not malnourished and if I put food out for her she doesn’t eat it all so I’m going to try not feeding her, feeding my cats inside, and see if she moves on. First animal who has ever come to my house that I haven’t adopted. Even in college, in Australia and Ethiopia, where I had a little wild cat Andy found in the jungle. A wild domestic cat…which is an Oxymoron, I know…I’ve had a fox, a raccoon, a mole, two orphaned rabbits, ten dogs, fourteen cats…all who just appeared in my life. But, I can’t deal with this poor kitty. What to do?

        I hope it all works out well. She may need to be checked out. May have worms of bugs, but a vet can get her well quickly. We had one that showed up in Algeria and because she was so terrible dirty and smelled so bad that we named her “Pantalones Sucios”, but after we cleaned her up and got her well we shortened the name to just “Sussie”. She became a beautiful cat and she was passed on the the new director who took my place and my villa when returned to the states. I never could turn any animal away. I once rescued one in west Texas (Ozona) in the middle of a very cold winter~! A large but very emaciated animal (all boned and bloated belly, with a half missing tail that had frozen off) but I took him in and took care of “him” naming him Tom because he just looked a lot like a big frozen TomCat. His tail had frozen off and one of his feet were bad. I doctored “him” up and in about three weeks “Tom” presented me with two pitiful kittens. I was paying so much attention to “him” that i had not seen that he was actually a SHE~! So I then had three of them to find homes for. Renamed her to Tomiseta”~!

        After reading your post I wrote a long one on cats but WordPerfect is giving me problems again, so I did not post it. At this time last year when the stole over $300 from me, so I blocked the auto pay to them, and I guess it is now time to either pay or finally quit them all together.. Will see next week what to do.

        The friend who was writing a completely new blog service for me had a difficult operation on replacing an iron shoulder put in and has not been able to rewrite my software all year. My friend Ginny will be coming next month and I may get her to rebuild my blog, if we decide not to go to Mexico for more than just a few days.. She is great on editing, and would make a great edit for me.

        Are you familiar with the Tenz unit. I have been using one for years and their new model that I just got is much smaller and smarter. Really works for back pain. I am kind of stubborn in taking pills for pain and this does the trick for me to get some sleep when my back is hurting. This one was cheaper and works better than the older ones. Rechargeable battery an smaller than a cell phone.

          I actually have two of the Tens units..thanks for reminding me. And, thanks for taking care of found animals. This one was perfectly groomed and healthy and not very hungry. But it obviously had been abandoned or it would have gone home. I’m hoping it is okay with Yolanda. I told her that I’d have it spayed if it had not already been taken care of and will take her a big bag of catfood on Monday. Fingers crossed.

            Because the Tenz work for me, I have gifted them to many of my friends, and my kids, but I am not sure they all get used. (I do not like to “pop pills”) I was needing new pads and when I looked to order some at Amazon, I saw that the patent must have run out because there were many new companies making and selling them (rather cheap), so for only a little more than a supply of pads cost I ordered a new (rechargeable) one, and I am really happy with it. About the size of a calling card and only as thick as a cell phone so now I can put it in my shirt pocket. With the two older ones each time I needed to use them I had to find a new nine volt battery~! There were times in my working years when I would have one in my pocket at work running, so I could make it through the day.. I no longer that that problem though, I finally found out that the little sports car I drove was causing a lot of my pain~!

    I’ve come to believe in cat reincarnation, so I believe this is a former cat who has found you. She will not go away. You need to give up and work her into your household because she won’t. Later you will be happy you did and will probably figure out who she really is. That’s the advice from a cat woman who has had many former cats reappear. Good luck, Rita

        Yes, Judy. I saw the photo you posted and downloaded it to save for myself. Thanks, it’s a sweet photo of a darling puppy. I know she is a little problematic now, but you just have to enjoy her antics. She’ll grow out of it in a couple of years. LOL Hugs, Rita

    I don’t know. When animals get attached like that out of the blue, I always wonder if they “know” me from another time and place. If I can’t take them in (though I always take them in until I can at least find another home for them), I do struggle to find homes for them. We kind of got the Duke like that. We didn’t want him but he wanted us. And he wasn’t getting along with the other two, but suddenly, they died — one right after the other — and the Duke was there. I always wonder if he knew something we couldn’t know.
