At the end of Cee’s Friday Funny Finds is the most hilarious video of an ingenious obstacle course for squirrels. Don’t miss it.

Wonderful and funny. We have the same problem, and Douglas, after a huge fight with me about catching the squirrels and taking them far from their families, has surrendered to them. The birds just have to wait out the squirrels.

We lived on a house on the side of a mountain. The only flat place was the huge platform and surrounding terrace that our house was built on and then a slope covered with dense and lush rosemary descended to another flat place down below where our garden was. We would place seed for birds in big plastic bowls on the railing of our terrace but of course the squirrels would eat it all before the birds go to it. Finally my husband attached a plastic bowl to a seven-foot length of bamboo and made a holder to attach it to the railing so we could detach it to fill it. The birds could perch on the bowl to feed but when the squirrels sat on the side of the bowl it would dump them (and, regrettably, the bird seed) into the rosemary far below. They weren’t hurt because the rosemary was so thick, but we had to then replace the bird seed. Luckily the squirrels gave up trying to reach it and the birds were happier ever after. A rogue bull squirrel did one day chase my sister into the house and bite her, but no further retribution was forthcoming.
