What are the Chances??? For “Thursday Trios”

I really did roll this in one roll a week or so ago!  It yielded 2400 points in one roll.  Blue, who was my opponent, said that qualified as an automatic win, but sadly not by my rules  and we continued and I lost the game. So much for being noble.  We were playing 10,000 which is sorta like Farkle but with different rules. I wasn’t thinking of Thursday Trios when I took this photo. Blue said I should take it just to chronicle  my feat.  Glad I minded her.

For Mama Cormier’s Thursday Trios prompt.

About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

The first time my youngest played “Yahtzee”, (he was 5) he rolled, during the game, 6 Yahtzees – so long ago, I don’t remember the # of times, he did it on the first roll (using the plastic cup, cuz his hands were too small and he liked the sound of using the cup… (other family members had to be restrained from telling him to ‘shake it only twice, good enough” impatience…LOL) But I remember well, my dad and I looking on, and marveling over it, etc., and finally, Dad said, “…and THAT!, Sis, is why laws prevent 5 year olds from playing at casinos – ” LOL

That said, much later, when dad was ill and discussions turned to prayer, the universe, Life’s mysteries, etc., he said, “Maybe, just maybe, beginner’s luck and the marvel of all those Yahtzees, first time playing, is all due to having a clear filter, uncluttered by memories of all the time, Life didn’t play out like ya thought it would, or planned for”

Will have to look up 10,000 – our much smaller family, now, when we are together, more often play Farkle than Yahtzee – so new game variation/option to play – I figure we already got the ‘set of pieces’ needed to play – LOL

You have to end exactly on 10,000 to win. Ones count 100 and fives as 50. 123456 all rolled at once count 500 and you get to roll again. Three doubles all rolled together count as 500. Three of any number rolled at same time count one hundred times the number except three ones count as a thousand. If you throw a fourth of the same number at the same time, it doubles the number. Another rolled at the same time doubles it again and so on. So six threes would count three hundred doubled to six hundred doubled to twelve hundred doubled to 24 hundred. A full house does not count as it does in Farkle.
