Re-tired

“That” bird raps down the scale hysterically–not appropriate music for 6  a.m. Just three hours ago, I was listening to Janis, who needed a Mercedez Benz, a man to love and fast transport out of Baton Rouge, in that order according to my play list. Now, when I’ve finally rid her angst from my dreams and I’m on a smooth course, here is nature’s alarm clock trying to convince me that 6 a.m.is a sane hour to rise. No, I answer silently, tucking one  hand under the pillow my head is resting upon and using the other to pull the spare pillow over my exposed ear.

By isolating myself from  this cheerful world of morning, I choose delay.  The puppy, who has snubbed the comfortable new bed I have bought for him in favor of being two feet closer to me,  jumps up next to me from his resting place beneath my bed and burrows against my spine, complicit in my choice of the best way to spend a morning.

And HERE is another poem about what happens when I do wake up and decide to stay that way–usually closer to 8 o’clock.

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “The Golden Hour.” 6:00AM: the best hour of the day, or too close to your 3:00AM bedtime?

Morrie, too–perhaps I should include a pic of his smile to indicate why I don’t kick him out of bed! Ha. Actually, I can’t have him sleep with me due to allergies (mine, not his) but now and then, what can it hurt? Achooooo!

Birds. I guess they go to bed early, too, right? Because there’s the sharp CHEEP CHEEP CHEEP of the cardinal and the extremely loud (but fortunately melodious) Carolina wren … and the cawing of crow, yelling of mockingbirds … and then there are the dogs, singing their “welcome day” chorus. They shut up when I leave the bedroom (cowards).

Sorry about your camera. I just remove the chip and stick it in the computer directly. It’s easier and the camera doesn’t have to do anything at all but lay there being electronic.

Morning should take place at a much more sensible hour.

I know. I loved that my Mac Air had this slot, but the slot quit working a few days ago and now even the USB slot with the little feeder-thingie doesn’t work either. Is the universe sending a message?

Any time before noon seems unreasonable, but I’ve been working on getting up around 8 or 9. Though I’d love to see the world at that hour, 6 a.m. just seems impossible. So I’m with you haha

We have a cat. She would never deign to sleep with us. She would probably want clean sheets every day like Oprah. My body’s alarm clock is set for sunup. The minute that baby comes streaming through the bedroom window, I’m wide awake. We even have a window blind! I think I’d be in trouble, mostly, in Alaska. 😀
