You are all correct. It was a frog! (Aha–It has just been pointed out to me that this is a toad, not a frog. I should have realized this, so I stand corrected. Thanks to the wise soul who knew the difference!)
This little guy, about 3 inches long, was sitting on the work counter of my garage when I got back from rehearsal. He was still there when I left for the Camp Estrella show a few hours later, but had departed by time I got home four hours later. He’ll be croaking out his very loud song by my pool later tonight. The performance was an incredible experience. I’ll post pictures and tell all later tonight. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, 8 of us put on a week-long camp for 30 kids from my village. They did art, English lessons, singing and flamenco dancing. Today was their big performance and it was wonderful More about it later!

Incredible.
Barb and I spent at a hot springs north of Las Vegas. The bull frogs talked about their environment all night long. If their voices matched bodies they would been larger than wash tubs.

I know. There is a tiny little frog that makes a deafening sound each night by my pool. He used to get inside a hollow sculpture and the sound would just echo and reverberate!

Judy…. I believe this fellow is a toad rather than a frog. Frogs tend to be smooth skinned and moist while toads are generally dry and bumpy. At diffen.com (very interesting site) you can get a general comparison of two items …. Like frog vs toad.

Relax, you are right on the spot. You practically “Liked” my poem before I got it posted! Actually, Forgottenman wrote me at 11:30 chiding me because I hadn’t answered the prompt today, I was sure I had but when he was proved correct, I accepted it as a challenge to get a poem written to the prompt before midnight. And I did it with 7 minutes to spare! Ta da!!! You can’t expect a gal to be both fast and profound!!!

As I understand it, if it has dry and warty skin it is a toad. If it is smooth and slimy looking, it’s a frog

You are right! I guess frogs have more bugged out eyes as well and their bodies are more elongated. I should have known.
