I love the cacti growing on the top of the building. How cool is that ? Everything is so weird and colorful and beautiful!

That is the Hospitalito–the ruins of one of the oldest churches in Jalisco. Only one wall is still standing, but it is a courtyard we’ve used for a lot of art shows and i’ve had art activities for the kids there. Also dance performances and fundraisers. It’s in the pueblo I live on the mountain above.

14 years ago we saw men plowing ys with a horse all the way down. Now every year there are fewer and fewer. But i still see donkeys laden with firewood coming down from the mountain above me every day. and men on horseback are common. At night they take them in through the front doors of their houses and through the house into the open courtyard in the middle…ha
