About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

This is a variety that dies after it blooms, but it always creates the next generation first, so I always have a plant and usually have one shooting up a bloom every year. One year Yolanda and Pasiano, my helpers, decorated it as a Xmas tree, complete with lights! I didn’t have the heart to tell them the felt garlands they used were really necklaces! They were pretty sodden by the time Xmas was over, but I dried them out and ever since have used my Xmas decorations as jewelry. ha.

I really like the concept of beginning, middle, end, and your photo of the aloe certainly captures it. Do you happen to know what is the exact name of it? I usually toss out the little name tags, and now I am trying to learn succulent’s names. Very, very difficult.

Century Plant, Maguey, Aloe–You should be able to find the exact name by Googling any of those names for it. It is of the same family as Aloe Vera or the Maguey that tequila is made of. I don’t think is is the exact Maguey that we revere in our Margaritas, but I may be wrong.
