Before and After

Before and After

(First shots of the almost-completed Doggie Domain!!!!  Two months in the making, soon to be painted, skylighted and sliding-glass-and screen-doored, but finished enough for habitation.  Inaugural night!!!)

And After:

What is wrong with this picture?  Well, Diego is in Frida’s bed and Morrie is in Diego’s bed (and cage) and Frida is outside, waiting to be let in to sleep in her bed in the guest bathroom!!! They all stubbornly refused to readjust themselves until mom got tough.  Kids today don’t appreciate what we go through for them!!!!  But, it’s wonderful not to trip over their cages in the hall and not to have to remove Frida’s bed to my room every time company comes. ( And not to wake up in the middle of the night wheezing because I’m allergic to her.)  Poor babies.  Wish they could all sleep with mom, but fear mom wouldn’t be around long if they did.

I bought new beds for Bishop and Bonnie — Amber already had a bed. So the moment I put them out, Bonnie was in Bishops bed and Amber was in Bonnie’s and Bishop went out to sleep in the cold cold yard because he LIKES the cold cold yard. It did eventually sort out. Bonnie sleeps on the sofa with Amber. Nobody sleeps in their beds which we trip over on the way in and out of the living room. But Bishop does sleep on his bed, sometimes for a few minutes every day.

I love your new space. It’s so nice, I may come and sleep in one of the doggy beds.

So reassuring that every time I have a maddening adventure with Morrie that you offer support with a similar tale! Makes me feel it isn’t my fault–contrary to what Morrie manages to make me feel.

My dogs don’t sleep in my room — I don’t sleep soundly and if they were in there, I’d wake up at every little sound they make. Mostly they sleep on the living room floor. Mindy has Lily’s old bed but she shares it with Bear. Mindy has the sofa, too, one end of it, but she shares it with Bear. Bear sleeps wherever she wants (no one would argue with her, least of all Dusty and Mindy who think she’s their child) and Dusty sleeps where he can see my bedroom door. I have had crate-trained dogs who slept in crates and free sleeping dogs like these and you know those crates are just HUGE especially if you have dogs as big as mine. This works better for me. Your house is beautiful. I miss the Mexican style here — it exists, but people practice strict segregation (which I find really strange…)

Do you mean the Mexican style is just in the houses of Mexican people? Most Mexicans here prefer a more modern sparse style. The really Mexican decor is favored by gringos! But, wild exterior colors are the order of the day, which I love. It is a relief not to be stumbling over cages, I must say. Just let Diego and Morrie out for their midnight pee. They came back in and then left again, so I just left the door open..There is another door to their room that adjoins to my house so I can lock it for security and they can still come and go to the outside. We’ll see how that works. I enjoy seeing your dog posts. xo Judy
