Night heron in the mangroves, La Manzanilla Laguna, Jalisco, Mexico, February, 2016 Judy Dykstra-Brown Photo
I was invited by Cee from ceenphotography.com to participate in a challenge called Seven Day Nature Photo Challenge. (Check out Cee’s wonderful nature photos by clicking on the link above.
As part of this challenge, I am to post one nature photograph a day for one week and to ask one other person to join the seven-day challenge each day I post. Today I ask you to check out the photography in Our Rumbling Ocean as I’m nominating him to take part in the Seven Day Nature Challenge as well. I hope you will check out his link just above. You won’t be disappointed.

I’ve only seen pictures of that heron in my bird books! Great shot!

Very noisy, poopie birds. You wouldn’t want them to set up housekeeping in a tree in your yard, but I love watching them.

A great fine. Since being in Florida, I’ve been fortunate to actually see a night heron. A fabulous photo Judy.

So many different birds winter here,in Florida, but soon they will be migrating back north, as well as my self , a snowbird returns in three weeks to Michigan which I’m told is still very very old.

A few years ago I befriended a colony of Great Blue Herons — on one visit, a Black Crested Night Heron peeked out of the tree as if to say “Me, too.” I added him to the family photos, and each time I visited, he came out to see me as well!

Carolyn Kizer wrote a great poem named “The Great Blue Heron.” You can find it on Google. I have always loved it.
