About Not Giving Rage’s Yell

……………………………………………………….About Not Giving Rage’s Yell

About what
Niggling minor matter are you
Going to
Rage until
You convince yourself that you want to be

Anyone else but yourself?
Notice, please, that your
Gait is even. You have two strong legs.
Resting  in your arms, a child.
You are so blessed.

A look around you might reveal
Neighbors with broken legs or wings or
Gaping minds.
Remember, please, all
You have been given.

A miracle that you were even born.
Nothing in the world
Gives a larger gift than
Receiving life itself.
You are most fortunate.

Yelling never
Opens any doors to
Understanding.

Note: Here is a perfect example of an alternative to anger in responding to a situation with which you might not agree :

About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

Thanks, K Stanly. I had no one in mind in writing this except perhaps people who seem to be so angry over this election, railing against the wrong people!! I think this is what a certain inappropriately-coiffed candidate brings out in people.I saw a letter on Facebook I basically agree with until its writer added “If you don’t like lying, don’t become a Democrat.” What a cretinous think to say… especially in light of certain involvements in certain foreign wars based entirely on lies during Republican administrations–but, the effect of this was for me to throw the baby out with the bathwater and not pass on his message. He went too far–let anger and adolescent behavior get the better of him, which seems to be a theme in the U.S. lately. So much anger without a clear appraisal of what has caused the ills in our government–mainly, BIG business. So right. Elect a multi-billionaire to overcome this problem. Right. And then get REALLY angry about anyone who thinks the problem through more calmly and clearly. That is sure to win him over to your mode of thought. So. Do I sound angry? I’m not. I’m scared to death.

oh honey i couldn’t agree with you more. we’re going to just remove the curtain and put big business in charge directly. north korea and putin love this guy! he thinks just like them… and it seems like so many people are rolling into this snowball of hatred. the nastiness seems to keep escalating. meanness. madness.

how did we get so far behind? weren’t we moving forward at one point in time? i remember in h.s. a friend had a button “the moral majority is neither”- I went home to my Ma, so worried, and she told me there was no chance such a small group could pose any threat. I think it was the only time I knew her to be wrong. The moral majority had to go to bed with big business to get there, and in so doing became the financial majority.

We have to have faith in our fellow humans… although it’s hard, knowing we either elected GWB or came close enough to make it easy for them to make it look like we did. He was the turning point of big business blatantly turning back the clock on progress.

We have to keep believing there’s more of us than them – there’s more kindness, there’s more sanity, more knowledge. There are more good guys. The good guys always (eventually) win. That’s something else my Ma said. Hope she was right about that one.

We also have to enjoy every moment of good life while we can, spread our kindness, and not let this phase take us down. Come on, give us a smile… we’ll be alright.

Correct in every single point. This is what Will Durant said. Need to try to find the quote. It is a good one. BRB (My faith in humanity has certainly been swelled by a few years of faithful blogging. I’ve met wonderful people here.

“Civilization is a stream with banks. The stream is sometimes filled with blood from people killing, stealing, shouting and doing things historians usually record, while on the banks, unnoticed, people build homes, make love, raise children, sing songs, write poetry. The story of civilization is the story of what happened on the banks. Historians are pessimists because they ignore the banks for the river.” -Will Durant
