Anniversary

Well, it has been exactly one year to the day since I returned home to this scene and very shortly thereafter, this scene.

So, how appropriate that I should return home today to this scene? To hear the story via captions and see larger views, click on first pic and right side of remaining pics.

So, do you think it is fair to give Diego Morrie’s bed? I am absolutely sure Diego did not rip up his own bed as he hasn’t chewed up anything for years and Morrie chews up everything he comes in contact with.  Not a bed, however, at least not lately.  I’ve been doing what I did last year––leaving early in the morning for camp, getting home exhausted and feeding the dogs and going to bed to rest so no, I haven’t thrown his toy much for him and perhaps he is bored, but he has a whole big yard to play in and a brother to play with him.  Is it cruel to punish him by making him sleep without a bed for a few nights?  What do you think, Aunt Marilyn?

About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

Throw the book at him. He’s guilty, your honor. They are ALL guilty. Well, he looks guilty. The problem is that he won’t connect the punishment with the crime. As far as he knows, one thing has absolutely nothing to do with another.

He’s actually probably upset with you for not being there. Rescue dogs have weird reactions that don’t always seem to make sense to us, but somewhere in their mind, there’s a connection. Gibbs is VERY odd in many ways but except for one slightly chewed shoe early on, he isn’t destructive.

He housebroke himself. Garry and I had nothing to do with it. It was an entirely independent decision on his part, so I keep waiting for him to change his mind and not be. Housebroken, that is.

I doubt Morrie cares much about the bed. He’s upset about you. You are probably the only human with whom he has really bonded in his life. As we are the only people Gibbs has ever known. Rescue dogs. They are wired differently.

I should add that by giving Diego Morrie’s bed, you are probably creating more problems. Because as I said, neither dog is going to associate that with the previous event. That’s way beyond a dog’s frame of reference. Might even be beyond most little kids and a few adults.
