I love that these little neighborhood groceries still survive and thrive in Mexico. this one is just down the street from me in La Manzanilla, Mexico.

There was one on every corner in Jerusalem. You only went to the shuk or “the big grocery store” if you need a whole load of groceries. For anything less, it was the “macollet.” It was where we did most of our shopping.
