Breaking Her Diet
I measure her cat food with care from the vat,
but she has such an aptitude, my little cat
for flushing out lizards and others like that.
With delicate paw thrusts, she gives them a bat
’til they barely know where it is that they’re at,
then unleashes her claws for a more severe pat.
Be it lizard or bird or scorpion or rat,
she defeats it as though it were merely a gnat
and lays it out nicely on my front door mat:
one scorpion sting less or a feather for my hat,
then returns to the stool where she formerly sat,
licking her chops, and that’s why she’s so fat!!!
The prompts were cat, aptitude and delicate.

Wonderful poem, and she looks absolutely unconcerned, Only cats seem to prefect that stance.

I know. Just took this photo last night and was delighted to see that “cat” prompt. Played right into my hands.. and her claws!

So you have a cat with both an aptitude and an attitude.

Don’t all cats?

Somehow I have a hard time with this cat being fat — or even getting there based on the occasional bird! Lizards and scorpions have so few calories they can’t be the culprits! That’s a wonderful “so there” expression on her face! Hope you’re feeling better these days!

I am feeling so much better. I walked and climbed pyramids all day long and feel fine. I huffed and puffed a bit on the way up the biggest hill and ended up flagging a ride for what ended up being a distance of only about a block or less, but I made it all day long. Such a relief. And a wonderfully fun day with Ryan and Miguel!!!

So glad — that sounds MUCH better, and I’m glad you can enjoy Ryan’s visit!

I do have two fatter cats but this is a new shot that I loved so I stretched the truth.

Out cats used to take out the white-headed wasps — huge and nasty. And they never seemed to be bothered by the stinging. Do we know how come they don’t seem bothered by that? I have always wondered.

Diego catches the huge red wasps as well. Don’t know how he does it. Never yips or seems to be stung.

Never owned a cat, but I must say she is a beauty. I love how they bring home their prize catches to show them off to you.

Really sad when it is a little bird, though. Or a lizard.

Awesome poem! My 20 pounder brought me a live field mouse last night. Usually it would be a light snack, but I guess he was in a sharing mood.

So how did you prepare it? My blue Burmese mother cat used to bring live bunnies into our house and let them go to teach her three kittens how to hunt. That was an exciting adventure!
