Retirement?
My future is amorphous. It has no shape or plan.
Up the creek without a paddle, I have no job or man.
My freedom? It is ludicrous. I’m well out of the chase.
All my time is leisure time. I live a slower pace.
Who named this phase re-tirement? There’s nothing that is tiring.
If they want to tire me out again, they’d best replace my wiring.
Prompt words today are chase, ludicrous, amorphous and paddle.
Cute!

As I was contemplating what I would do in retirement, some 15 or so years ago, there was a book entitled “Don’t Retire, Rewire.” Your poem is a fun description of life as it is now!

I love the play of words in the last two lines, Judy; that’s brilliant. A propos, GIlbert’s resort in Key Largo, Florida, proudly displays a “paddle you need to go up the creek.” Perhaps you should visit?

Darn. The heat might have gotten to me, Dolly, but I don’t understand the “paddle you need to go up the creek.” Can you explain what they meant it to mean? Duh….

Okay.. I get it. They meant “Paddle that you need to go up the creek!” I saw the paddle as a verb…
