About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

Hindsight being better than foresight, in the end it would have cost the US less all round to Put the apprehended illeglas and their children in trucks and take them back where they originated. Those people seem to have been seriously misled to think they’d find refuge in the States.

Thanks for asking, Judy — Yes — I’m fine. It’s a lovely, blue-sky, breezy day here, temp down around 75-80. I’ve not heard of fires in Baja CA, but our ‘local’ news tends to be US related. The weather here has been brutal, and will continue to be bad again starting tomorrow. I’m probably 50 miles from the closest fire, and 100 from the worst fires — so far! The really bad fires are in Santa Clarita (Magic Mountain), and in Sonoma Valley (near Napa Valley). So far, the loss of homes has been low (even one is bad, but 9 in this type of fire is pretty good, if that makes sense), and there has been no report of injury or death. The power has been cut off, or is being cut off in most of Northern California other than the Central Valley as a preventive measure — very controversial, as it affects life and flow or water as well. In SoCal, one of the fires began with a line failure right next to where they had just turned off the power! Today is a bit of a reprieve, but the prediction is for winds tomorrow night and more heat during the week. It’s typical fall weather, but worse for a longer period than it ever used to be! I’m ok for now — but definitely staying alert!
