These are all assemblage pieces I did in La Manzanilla from objects found on my walks on the beach. They were exhibited in the Hospitalito as part of the San Juan Cosala festival honoring its patron saint, St. John the Baptist. The show will be taken down today, Sunday, June 25.
Each piece is so well arranged

Sam, this is what I used to do when I was at the beach. it was so much fun and that way I didn’t have to haul anything except my tools to the beach. The material was all there. I haven’t done it for the past two years, however as I’ve just gone to the beach for a week rather than three months.

Bob would be so proud of you. They are in the same artistic mode of his work. But don’t you have to attach them together or use some kind of glue, hot melt or attachment, so this can not be done “at the beach”. My mother did this but one piece sometimes took several days. She was a pack rat of rocks, sticks, broken glass, cups, keys and some of the stuff I left on my work bench would also disappear.
If I can get your address to send “stuff”, I would clean out my shop and keep you busy for months~! Or better still, you could spend a few days here and have enough to have another show.
Some of what I have put together is much larger (statuesque) and you may not have noticed them without even knowing what you were looking at. For some I needed the loader on my tractor. I only titled one or two because they were only meant for my pleasure. An old tree trunk, a rock with special shape etc. not as delicate or artistic as your art. Some obelisk have fallen down and I am now not able to stack them back. They show up in many photos but in very few cases do I say “hay, look what I put together~!”
It looks like I will not be there on July 3 like I planned but it seemed that every time I tried to put that trip together, something happened to mess it up. But next Monday I will be thinking about you and so HAPPY BIRTHDAY MS JUDY~!

Thanks Martha. They are fun to do. Didn’t sell any, though. Only one piece in the entire show sold, and that was at the opening. It is just too hot and the building is set way back from the street and they didn’t put out a sign! Ah well. Also, I think people have a hard time seeing assemblage of natural materials as art. Just tore down the show.. Took two trips from there to my house and I had to park a block and a half away but got it done..Now don’t have to leave my house for the rest of the day, I hope. It is so hot!!!

I liked “Dancing with the Stars” very much. But it’s true; people have ideas about what art is and is not.
An acquaintance was here the other day. She commented on my newer paintings. The stuff that came out of her mouth was just bizarre to me. Who knows what anyone sees when they look at a piece? There are a lot of variables with a show and I think weather and temperature are major factors. Not having a sign up is another. I have a painting hanging fire but I feel a little paralyzed by something — who knows…

What do you mean by a painting hanging fire? One waiting to be painted?

A landscape. Nothing special, but it will be fun. The problem is my kitchen sink is barely draining which makes cleaning brushes difficult. Not sign of a plumber for the next two weeks. I’ll figure something out. 😀

Do you have a bathroom plunger you could use on the sink? It sometimes helps. I have a spare I keep just for non-bathroom usage.

I used it. Then my main line guy came and cleaned that out. Then he used a super-powerful air gun on it, no luck. It needs to be snaked out. It’s just that there is only one good plumber in this whole valley. I’m on the list and any day it could happen.

I bought a snake online. Unfortunately, I put it away so well that I’ve never been able to find it since!!!

I almost bought one — then I watched all the videos that were posted and decided that since I have a working bathroom and I have rigged up a system for Elise the washer/dryer of song and story, I can wait. 🤣
