Cee’s response to the Lens Artists Challenge inspired me to do three quickie shots through my living room/office windows. See her window shots HERE.

About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

Oh, but bars on a window are so SAD~! Though I have never been forcefully put behind them, I did have them on my windows in countries I lived in, where they were very necessary. I also feel so sad for animals behind barred windows or in cages, though it may be necessary.

If a pet must be kept behind barred windows or doors, it is a sad way to go. I speak mostly of birds fish etc. My birds are free outside and let me know how happy they are, and yes I do have a large Koi pond for fish where they and other creatures seem to be happy in their windowless world. I am very fortunate that I live where my cats and dog run free in and out of their pet doors with windows and I can watch them outside through my very large windows all over my house.

Oh, right now I am watching an old mother turkey with her five young birds, just outside my window. Each year when I see her with almost grown chicks, it makes me happy to know that the little ones have made it to an age where they can take care of their selves.

THERE, I GAVE YOU MORE THAN YOU REALLY ASKED FOR, WITH A WINDOW ON MY MIND~!

They don’t make me sad, Sam. They make me happy, because I can have all my doors and windows open to let air currents through and the dogs can pass in and out to go pee at night but no intruders can fit through them. Bars can be freedom or restraint. In my case they are freedom. Burglars climbed over my wall and finding everything secure, climbed over my side wall and entered my neighbor’s window that had no bars. After my first break in I learned my lesson and have not had any since. I love Mexico but early-on learned that the most vulnerable house is the one broken into again and again. Makes me happy to say I feel secure because I have arranged my own security. And what I see through the bars makes me happy indeed.
