Okay, this is impossible. I tried to answer the LAPC #268 Challenge, to publish my ten favorite photos and to say why they are my favorites, but I just got through the first 2,000 of the 149,000 photos in my photo file and I already have 35 even after culling out a dozen or so.
Because it reminds me daily that the biggest disasters may have their rewards.
Because this scene from my back yard is never the same twice in a row but is always beautiful.
Because it reminds me why I couldn’t resist bringing her home from the beachside restaurant where she first curled up on my lap and won my heart.
Because he is such a wonderful friend and hammock buddy.
Because it is my favorite view!!!
Because it is the only photo of my sisters and me as adults.
Because it reflects so well the two things I love most about Mexico: the children and the artistry.
Because her delight conjured up such memories of the slide in the playground across the street from my childhood home and my own trips down it.
Uphill
More of the same. I couldn’t decide.
Because it conjured up a wonderful afternoon in the San Miguel Botanical Desert Gardens with my dear departed friend Joe and my long-unseen friend Dale.
I loved the joy of this trio on the San Juan Malecon. Surely they were too young to be her parents so it must have been lovers with one of their siblings.
Wheelies. Just loved capturing it at the exact correct moment.
I don’t know why I love this shot.
The beauty of a weed.
Love the capture of the bricks in flight and the happy laborers all.
A reaching hand in the Basilica of the Virgin of Guadlupe in Mexico City
This choice has to be obvious. What potential in these hundreds of tiny beginnings.
Probably my alltime favorite, captured on a soda straw at my favorite beach resturant in La Manzanilla
Ah, that Amazon Jungle trip..and exotic new bugs!
A visitor by my kitchen door. Gorgeous little guest.
A different variety of butterfly visits in a cycle every year.
Sisters. Who can resist their antics?
I love this tender moment captured at the anniversary party of friends.
And this is why I had to bring her home..the morning after I adopted her in her new collar just woven for her on the beach.
I said line up in order of size!!!

There is no way I can go through the whole file, so I’m going to go with these and have you suggest which ones to cull to get it down to ten. Then, someone will have to direct me to the correct link for as much as I enjoyed Patti Moed’s blog which did follow the prompt beautifully, she did not give a link to the original prompt and I could not find it. So, those are my two excuses and I’m sticking to them. If you can suggest cuts and direct me to the correct prompt site, I’ll try again!!!
A couple of these brought tears to my eyes. What a great selection, Judy.

Janet, did you approach it through The Reader? For some reason it posted an old version which has the photos out of order and some not posted. Can’t figure out how to get them to update and the Happiness Engineers seem to be on vacation. It used to be so easy to get help and now impossible.

No — I view posts as they are sent to me through e-mail. The photos come through one at a time, the size of the post, which is much easier on my eyes and less confusing when there are lots of photos as in this post.
As I look again, I think my faves in this group are the comb & scissors, the single leaf cutter, and the barrel cactuses

Ha.. and I almost didn’t post the comb and scissors because I couldn’t figure out why I liked it… I just did. And that’s the one everyone has mentioned. Just goes to show we shouldn’t second-guess ourselves.

Excellent photos, Judy! Hard to pick favorites but I like the egret one, the waterbird one on the shore, the scissors and comb, and the puppy with her new blue collar. They are all good though!

Glad you mentioned the scissors and comb. Don’t know why I like it. Just do.

p.s. those ants look next-level vicious compared to the Michigan ones. I don’t blame you for losing the vine/tree.

Just the leaves and the flowers. Actually, after I took the photo I regretfully put down ant pellets. If I hadn’t, they would have denuded my entire garden and trees! Busy little leafcutters!!!

I like all of them. Throw them up in the air and pick the ten that land on top (if they have a physical presence).

I don’t want to link to it because I really didn’t follow the rules… and her photos are so incredible that it is actually intimidating. Hers are so professional and mine so amateur..

I think that your photos are fantastic too.

A wonderful selection of photos and memories, Judy! I loved your comments on each one. It told me a lot about you, what you love, and your life. 🙂 🙂 Your photos of the animals in your life really touched me! They’re terrific–especially the one of your cat adopting your puppy.

A wonderful gallery of your favourite photos, Judy. I can understand why you had difficulties choosing less.
