The time finally came to move this 20 or more year-old Agave from its pot on the terrace down to the sculpture garden in the lot below. I have watched countless hummingbirds feed at its flowers as I sat at my writing desk over the years and will miss it, but it has long outgrown its pot which you can see above had to be shattered to remove the plant. Good bye old friend. Here it has made its way all the way around the house and is about to exit from the front door to make its way down the street to the lower lot.

I’m glad it wasn’t me. When I moved one of mine I used an excavator 😂

Love it, and you have not lost it, just gave it a new home, making space for a younger one to move into~! We all must think about growing old and letting the younger young ones bless us with their beauty. But in the life of an agave it is just starting, and in the open will start sending out pups all around it, which will be met with good and bad thoughts, the good is you have gifts for friends the bad is when you must cut around it. At least that is my story around here.

It’ll still be there in your garage, feeding hummingbirds.

Beautiful lighting, love the warm colors and such a magnificent agave. I bought a little jar of agave Honey in LaManzanilla while there for for just a week and it’s heavenly!

Someone once told me that potted plants actually appreciate a slightly snug container ~ like a swaddled baby…

That’s one impressive agave! I’ve had to find new homes for some indoor plants that got too tall or just too huge. Your agave is huge. Impressive.

The agave should be a nice addition to the lower lot you have so nicely designed!
