I Hope Trump Supporters are Satisified

More good news for those who would rather line billionaires’ pockets and spend a billion dollars bombing the entrance to an Iranian nuclear facility than to support schools in the U.S. (Not to mention $25 to $45 million for Trump’s birthday parade and $30 million for his trips to Mar-a-Lago (not counting costs for security.)

THINK, PEOPLE!!!!!!

Supreme Court allowed Trump to slash the Education Dept.

The Supreme Court issued an order this afternoon that cleared the way for the Trump administration to fire thousands of employees from the Department of Education and effectively dismantle the agency.

The decision was a significant victory for President Trump, who has set out to sharply curtail the federal government’s role in the nation’s schools. His administration has announced plans to fire more than 1,300 education workers, which would largely gut a department that manages student loans, tracks student achievement and enforces civil rights laws in schools.

About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

How did we get here? Could granting civil rights for people of color and rights for women have caused such as backlash that people are willing to see the nation destroyed? I don’t understand. It is the children of the poor and the working class who will suffer, not the children whose parents can send them to private schools. How sad a day for America!

Reagan wanted to abolish it in 1980 (Republican party platform) but thankfully, we had a Democratic House of Representatives. However, in the eight years he was in office he did manage to “defund” education by fifty percent. Imagine if educators would have used that “defund” mantra back then. Former President Carter is the one who saw the benefit of education by establishing the Department of Education. He was a President who wasn’t appreciated yet did so much for humanity throughout his life.

What’s interesting is the fact that tuition was free (or very low tuition) at public colleges in California before Reagan was governor there. Due to his cuts while governor, tuition became the only way for the colleges to make up for the lost funds. Must be something about tv personalities.

First, MAGAts will never be satisfied. If Trump’s full agenda were to miraculously come to fruition today, Trumpers would blame the resulting train wreck/Armageddon on Biden, Harris, and the left wing “woke dummocrats”. These idiots will go to their graves blaming everyone but Trump or themselves. (I despise Trump, but I despise these Trump supporters infinitely more.)

I find it hard to find one person to point to. Did Trump hire ANYONE who knew something about the work they were supposed to do? They are all IDIOTS. That’s probably an aspersion against idiots who are surely smarter than what we laughingly call “our government.”

I point to only one (generic) person: The U.S. Voter. I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that Trump beat Harris in the POPULAR vote! As a nation, we (well, not ME, of course) voted him into office for yet another 4-year term. And by popular vote – not just electoral college vote! Do we, as a nation, deserve him if a majority (ok, a plurality) voted for him? Are we still a democracy? Enough to drive me to drink. (Well, I’ve been rumming for years. Considering stepping up my game now.)
