I should know what this red flower is but can’t remember.  I can identify the tradescantia it towers over, however. No doubt someone can tell me what it is??? (Thanks, Forgottenman, for identifying it!)

Scarlet Firespike against a fiery sky. I’ve been trying to identify this flower for twenty years. Now, thanks to a generous commenter who suggested a flower identification site, I’ve done so!!!!
