Thanks, mihrank, but I’m sort of disappointed by the “gallery” feature. It is the first time I’ve used it and the pictures are so small–and most won’t enlarge by clicking on them. I’m thinking of reposting it. What do you think?
the bread caught my eye judy, for whatever reason, and made everything seem tasty.
as far as gallery images go, have you tried the “tiled mosaic” setting? it can be a great way to showcase pictures. i also like how captions “pop up” in the gallery setting when you hover on an image. it’s like a tiny surprise for the readers and yourself if you’ve never seen it before.
Okay. I need to investigate further. I didn’t see any settings other than the gallery itself. I do appreciate your mentioning this as I’ve seen people with much more interesting setups in the galleries…Thanks, Macgyver!
if you look at your post in the visual editor and click on the gallery you’ve set up a small pencil and x icon should appear. click on the pencil icon and you’ll get and ‘edit gallery’ window. in the right hand corner are gallery settings.
i usually have the link box set to none, keep the size set at thumbnail and experiment with the type options. you can also add captions under the images to the left in the ‘edit gallery’ window. then click update gallery button at the bottom right.
But what I’m wondering about is how to arrange the pictures differently. I hate the white frames around them. Looks like old Kodak prints. I’ll look and see if I can find options. Thanks for giving info, MacG…
You Sweetie, MacGyver!!! You showed me exactly what I needed to know and it now looks like I want it to look!!!! Thanks so much. The simplest solution is not simple when you don’t know what it is! Judy
I love the bread one and the one of looking up into he trees.
I’d recommend having a play around with the WordPress gallery features and previewing your post before publishing it. It took me sometime to get use to it, but now I think I’ve cracked it.
Hugh, I have about 60 unaccounted-for views on my blog for the day I did this posting. Do you happen to know if it counts as a separate viewing each time someone clicks on one of the gallery pictures? A friend thought this was perhaps what was happening as the views seemed to go up so quickly in the hour after I posted, but only in the tally–not in the views attributed to actual pages. I’ll never understand WP’s stats procedure. As for the gallery features, I’ll check them out. Thanks for the suggestion.
When I clicked on your photos I was taken to a view page where I could look at each photo closer up and move them along by clicking on an arrow on the page which took me to the next photo. I use an iMac and somebody using a Windows computer may have a different view.
However, I have noticed photographs on some of my posts showing up on a different WordPress tab when they have been viewed, so your friend could well be right and each view on a different tab is classed as a new view.
Many people are confused (including me) by the WordPress stats. I’ve read lots of posts on the subject and, to be honest, I’ve only ever come away thinking “so that’s how it is calculated” a few times.
just incredible and classical!
