Three hours at the eye doctor’s and $900 later, I have a new pair of progressive lens eyeglasses ordered so no more jiggling two pairs of glasses not to mention having to locate them twenty times a day. This was the cute lady in the frame fitting room modeling a pair of glasses ordered by a man who insisted he wanted rose colored lenses. It was special order requiring much work on their part and of course when they arrived he took one look and said, “They’re pink!” The ladies said yes, that is what rose was and that was why they’d tried so hard to dissuade him from them. Yes. They’re going back to be redyed. And yes, they forgave him. They looked great on her so I made her try them on. Actually, I really liked them on me, too, but my budget is shot for the time being. My next glasses will come from China, but progressives call out for the human touch. Two more days to go before heading northwards.

I got a new prescription and progressives (have worn them for years) and I have to take the darned things off when going down stairs or even walking sidewalks! So going to an opthamologist…again…and then another optomiarist…or whatever…for yet another pair. Another hundreds of dollars….

I guess being farsighted is Ok after a while. I worked as a city bus driver for a little over 20 years and I got my first set of progressives was when I was 41 or 42 years old. I can remember at first having difficulty with stairs for a while. It’s pretty easy actually, you just have to look down at your feet. I also had a little trouble looking in rear view and left and right side view mirrors. Things are kind of weird for a while getting used to it. I actually still don’t need them except if I need to read something while I’m driving? Street signs etc. are fairly easy to read just can’t too close to them. Have a fun time on your trip Judy. Oh make sure you get polycarbonate lenses. If you can be satisfied with a limited selection Costco has prices and selection that are better than I found in Mexico.

Goodness you paid way too much. I just got two new ones myself and paid so much less (don’t dare to mention it).

I know..I could have searched around but hadn’t the time. I’ve gone a year being miserable over lost glasses and changing back and forth. Just didn’t have time to arrange for others. I’m leaving Saturday and won’t be anyplace else long enough to get glasses fitted and sent while I’m here…so I pd. the price.

Progressives don’t work for me. My eyes never look through the correct part of the lens, so I have two pairs of clear glasses — computer and distance — an I read without eyeglasses. Then there are the sunglasses. NONE of my eyeglasses are good for photography. Thank god for auto-focus. I would be sunk without it.

But my autofocus never quite works, does yours? Or perhaps my eyes are so bleary they just think they are slightly out of focus.
