An Open Letter to Panasonic, Apple and Ziplock
Since it is true, I must report–
my phone cord’s always two feet short
of reaching from the wall connection
towards my office desk’s direction.
And Apple power cords, for heaven’s sake.
Could they make one that doesn’t break?
Why don’t Ziplocks really zip?
Why can’t I ever find the lip
to pull the damn thing easily closed?
Nothing’s as simple as supposed.
So to the fellows who design,
please listen to these words of mine:
This customer is getting miffed.
Please don’t hold her in short shrift.
Assure me that the fault’s not mine
by bettering your weak design.
Just make your flipping phone cords longer!
Ziplocks zippier, Mac cords stronger!
In the interim, I’ll use
tape and rubber bands and glues.
My power cord’s life they will assure
and keep my plastic bags secure.
I’ll shove my desk over on my own
to try to reach the blooming phone.
But finally I’m sure I’ll snap
and cease to buy your ill-formed crap.
So get my drift and make some changes.
A thing like this is what deranges
and drives us to cell phones, PC’s,
and covered bowls to store our cheese!!!!
Note:Since today’s prompt is a repeat from a year ago, in my earlier post, I repeated my response from a year ago. I felt, however, that I owed you a fresh poem as well. A half hour’s struggle with finding and installing a longer connection cord between my desk phone and the phone connector in the wallbox six feet away–finding the right cords in a tangle that wandered from desk behind display case, sculpture, TV tray rack and side table–led me to the above tirade.
I don’t get the stupid short cord thing either. Would it really cost that much to make them a foot or two longer? It aggravates the hell outta me.

On some appliances there is a federal regulation about how long a power cord can be for safety. (Pretty sure electric skillet is one.) I wonder if this applies to recharging cords? But yes, stupid and annoying all. The ones I swear at the loudest are the brand ziplocks that the food is already in and they provide a “convenience” container. So&So’s shred cheese, and XYZ sliced lunch meat in the easy zip bag. Those suckers NEVER work. It is like, “Dudes! Do you ever open your own product?” I spend forever pulling and ripping and the plastic sides won’t give. I gnaw. Then worried about my teeth I get the scissors out and then usually have to cut below the zipper (so cutting it off) to get to the food.
Maybe it isn’t a major Life Problem but sometimes it feels like one! 🙂

I know…Little aggravations. The cord I’m talking about is the one that connects the phone line with the phone…You can buy longer ones, so why not just give them to us on the phone. The phone cord for electricity is short as well, but you can always use an extension cord on that one. I was just in a bitchy mood when I wrote this. Have it all straightened out now. Yesterday was one of the most horrible days of my life but today I had a wonderful massage, my masseuse figured out how to straighten out the contacts and numbers on my iPhone, a best friend is coming for dinner and all is right in the world!!!

In my past life as a licensed massage therapist (really, I am one), I was asked to do lots of things not really in my realm of work, but never once was I asked to straighten out an iphone! 🙂 Glad today is better for you.
