IMG_2601These are the flowers that grow next to the street-facing wall of my house. I know Thunbergia–the blueish/purple vine growing up the light pole to the far left.

About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

Outstanding photos. I was especially interested in the first one. It immediately brought back a book published in 1885, Cycling To Canterbury. A newly couple pedaled a tricycle from London to Canterbury, following the route of Chaucer’s pilgrims of Canterbury Tales 500 years after the fact. I saw the image the author saw.

I loved the Canterbury Tales! I even read it in the original Middle English in college and when I student taught, had my students write a modern Canterbury Tales, which believe it or not, they loved doing. I even took my mother to Canterbury and we took a trip by boat through the town, negotiating the old locks, etc. We didn’t do the entire route, though.
