Jennifer has a new photography prompt generator that I thought I’d try out. The prompt I drew was “Manual Landscape,” which reminded me of this photo I took yesterday. A few days ago, I posted a picture of these chiles and their bloom. (See that posting Here.)At the time, it occurred to me that the viewers would have no idea of how small they are, so yesterday, I decided to hold them in my hand to show scale. So, my hand provides the “manual” and the plant provides the landscape! Perfect.

Those are very hot peppers. I think that’s where the saying, what they don’t cure they will kill ya came from. 🙂 🙂 🙂

Ha. Yes, I know. Occasionally someone picks some to eat with their lunch or dinner here–but it is always a Mexican friend, never a gringo.

Tiny and very hot!!!! I’m spelling chiles the Mexican way, you are doing so the Aussie way and Americans spell it chilis. I wonder how many other countries have variations on the spelling? About running out of different ways to spell the word.

Yes we all speak English with our own variations on spelling and pronunciation. Often we are unaware of it when we write a post that the person reading may not have a clue what your are talking about due to use of the idiom of the language you are coming from.

I know. Encourages creative thought. It has really improved Angloswiss’s blogging experience! Ha. She was getting so irritated with the same old prompts over and over.

When I came to the US & looked for Chillies in supermarkets, everyone sent me to Seasoning section & pointed to Chili Con Carne. I’ve learned to call it Chili-pepper. In Malay & Bahasa Indonesia, it is spelt Cili & those tiny ones in the pic look like Cili-Padi (which got its name/connotation from Padi or tiny rice grains).

In whatever country or whatever spelling, they are now too hot for my palate, so I just enjoy looking at them! And it is handy to have something very hot around to go pick for the hearty souls who visit. Yes, chili is chili con carne in the states. The peppers are called chilies. Or chiles in Mexico..Chillies in Australia. I tried to correct the spelling of my Australian roommate and she set me straight!!!
