Okay. I love the springs, but what are they for?
I love the fingernails … on someone else. You can’t do ANYTHING when you’ve got nails like that. I haven’t had real fingernails ever because I played the piano and type.
Great pictures!

They are toys, Marilyn. Didn’t you ever have a Slinky? These are a plastic variety. They walked down stairs on their own.

I’m pretty sure my slinkies were a lot bigger than that. And heavier. Those look like they couldn’t slink anywhere.

They don’t, much. They are plastic and don’t have the weight to pull themselves down unless the steps are very narrow (front to back) and very steep. I buy them to cut up and use in retablos to isolate elements or add color. I’ll try to show an example, but the one I have is sort of X-rated as it was a commissioned piece for a sex shop. Yes, my most original request for a commission.

My first professional radio commercial was for a hot sheet motel by the airport. I invented soft porn advertising on Long Island, my favorite line being “taking a brief, relaxing, mini-vacation with quick access to all major highways.” It was an award winner.

Ha! They are called “No-tell Motels” in Mexico. I always stay in them because they are cheap and each has its own garage. Great when driving down carloads of stuff from the states, which we do every time we drive! They have restaurants that deliver food to your room via a little lazy Susan that circles it into your room without anyone ever seeing your face. On the menu after enchiladas and hamburgers are “Spanish Fly” and “Condoms.” Really!!!!

Ah, but do they have water beds and mirrored ceilings? Hah.

Are those springs the ones that go down the staircase on their own? I think I still have one…somewhere.
I can’t image anyone wearing those fingernails. How would you pick anything up? I guess they are for fancy-dress?
Great photos, Judy. Thanks for participating.

Yes…They are the modern approach to the Slinky–but plastic ones. They don’t work as well as the old metal ones, though. I buy them to cut up and use in my art collages, but otherwise, they go unused–and this picture to me seemed the epitome of disuse…just hanging there.

What a funky collection ! Loved the nail paints.

Those nails would be a perfect excuse not to do anything, I think.

So colorful! Where did you take these? A flea market or thrift store?

Andrea, I took the Slinky shot and the Barbie-type dolls at outside markets in Mexico, where I live. The nails were in a shop window, also in Mexico, but I forget where!

I have a Hugh, too, but I use him every day.

I’ll try to remember where you can buy those fingernails, Claudette, but they will certainly cut down on your blogging!!!! Thanks for the comment.

Yes, I couldn’t wear them as I do a fair bit of keyboard stuff for my job too, and also my polymer clay work would not like them at all. 🙂

They’d make great sculpting tools for polymer clay!!! Perhaps just one or two fingers worth, though.

Now there’s and idea 🙂
