About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

Driving through France with my elderly mother and 7 yr old son and his I-Spy book, I kept pointing out the “chateau’ over there in the trees” and other things in his book; he didn’t look in the right direction until it was too late, we’d passed it. This went on during the trip.
What this terrible mother didn’t know was that he was very short-sighted, not just sluggish. I nearly wept when driving at home the day he got his glasses he said: “There is a plant in that window, and it has curly leaves.” Seven years I didn’t notice he couldn’t see well. That is a Guilt trip, if ever there was one.
