When you’re unwell, do you allow others to take care of you, or do you prefer to soldier on alone? What does it take for you to ask for help?
Skedaddle!
Bring me vitamins and soup,
but please don’t camp upon my stoop.
For when I have the ague or flu,
I’d rather not commune with you!
I’d rather sink into my gloom
sealed up lonely in my room.
Sleep as much as I am able,
use my stomach as a table.
Leave liquids here beside my bed,
but please don’t hover overhead.
An angel is appreciated
if, once immediate needs are sated,
they disappear and leave me to
my soggy Kleenex and the loo!

If I have a head cold, I want some soup and a good book.
If I’ve just had both breasts removed, or my heart remodeled, I want lots of drugs and soup, with sympathy. But don’t touch. It hurts.

A yes. We agree again, Marilyn. You’ve had some bad owies…I would bring you soup if I were near enough.

It is between and behind the breasts that is important, Marilyn, and you have a big heart to compensate, even if it is partially mechanical. I hope we meet some day so I can give you a bit hug!!!

Marilyn,
Didn’t we exchange in notes about falling and not being able to get back up off the floor. This URL below is a link to that lift I was talking about.

Thanks Jane. It was written fast! I was suffering blog withdrawal while traveling and wrote it in line waiting to get a plane when mine was canceled.

I hope you are not really sick but this was written as a sick memory. Nevertheless, it rings a bell and exactly how I feel when I’m down with a bug. 🙂

No, I’m not sick, but this is how I feel when I’m sick. It takes all my energy just to try to fall asleep and forget how sick I am.
