Art by Mieke Herman, photo by Judy

Mieke burned this image into wood making use of a magnifying glass and the sun!  It helps that she lives in Arizona part of the year.  Can you imagine the control this would take?  No mistakes allowed.  She later added paint as well.

About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

Horse chestnuts … not really a relation to the Chestnut. Has the most beautiful array of colours in the nuts, that schoolboys in England call … conkers. The horse chestnut is poisonous to people. The chestnut on the other hand is a wonderful fibrous nut that cooked in coals is a veritable treat. To be enjoyed with just a dabble of salt. Unrefined sea salt. Oh and the images? Nice! Cheers Jamie.
