The Morning the Fish Came Back

The ocean has been too warm for fish in the three weeks I’ve been here and as a result there have been practically no fishermen nor birds. This morning I woke up early and went out to my porch to encounter a few more of each than usual.  Here are some of the pictures I took: (Click on first picture to see enlarged gallery.)

I asked the fishermen what they were waiting for and they said, “Evidence of fish.”  I didn’t have to ask the gulls and pelicans.  They were waiting for the fishermen to catch fish and give them some.  Guess they are retired, too.

About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

That was a rooster fish. I have a good many more pictures of him that I’ll post when I have a minute or sixty…I lived a few blocks from the beach in Australia for two years. Yes, very different. I haven’t been to NZ though…

Enjoyed your photos Judy. I’m in Florida for the winter, and on the Gulf side, where I’m staying, red tide is keeping everyone away from the beaches. Quite a few dead fish are washing up on the beaches.

With the bird rookery nearby, I’m spending my days there taking photographs. Today, Great Blue Herons and their one week old chicks, just fuzzy white balls with tiny beaks, and to think in just two months they will be as big as mom and dad.

Stop by my blog, if you like Judy. There are photos, poems and drawings/paintings I’ve done.

    Happy sunning.

Wonderful photos..Just looked at three of your blogs as I just got back from a reading and dinner and need to get up early to go on a snorkeling trip, but I’ll certainly view more of your work and your fabulous photos in the future.

Love pelicans. That’s a great photo with the seagull – they are really big, so it shows the size of the pelican. we saw a lot at a small fishing village near Lima, Peru.
