Stepping up the Action (Pool Progress)

I thought I’d posted these photos of yesterday’s pool party, but I guess I didn’t.  So here are Chino and Diego supervising while the guys do all the hard work. I have the easiest job of all, taking photos:

When today dawned with driving rain, I was sure the building of steps for the pool would be delayed for a day, but bright and early the guys showed up, strung a tarp over the pool, and continued.  When the rain let up, Chino came to inspect the work and execute the first stroll up and down the steps.  I took the second trip.  Here is proof of progress. Now on to perfecting the smoothness and curved edges of the concrete, some repair of the wall between the pool and hot tub and the tiling.

These guys charge at least double what anyone else would, but they are so good and artistic and love the dogs and never let them escape. Security is a big part of hiring in Mexico or anywhere else. And, they are a joy to watch work. I won’t even need a hand rail because the floor of the terrace forms a natural hand hold. Only need to put something to hold onto by the top step.. may even make it a huge planter or a sculpture. Perhaps a frog.

I’m thrilled. They always do a great job, but this is like adding to the sculpture, as I love the design of the pool to start and they’ve added to it perfectly. It’s like a large sunken sculpture.

Ha!!! I wondered what you were trying to say.. Now you must come try it out. It is really very pleasing esthetically and will be even more so when tiled.. and you can go from hot tub to pool without having to struggle up that long step from the bench.

I’ve enjoyed it at least three times a week for 15 years and every day for the past two years, but I’ll enjoy it a good deal more knowing none of my dogs will ever drown in it. Should have done this years ago. But yes, I love the looks of it and it will be easier for me as well–especially in 20 years or so! Thanks for commenting, Boeta, and for publishing such a fabulous blog yourself. I love our walks with you and Boeta Jr.
