I especially respond to Black Dog sculpture, whose daring placement mid-public space belies the laid-back pose, as if he knows and tells us so, that this one spot in the sun will be his forevermore. I like that the fold of the ear, the curves of torso and legs echo the curves of the the surreal tilt of railing behind and the edges of stone on which he lies, where the blue in the stone and the gloss of his coat reflect the blues of water, mountain and sky.
But oh, that look in the eye, Something in that inward stare, reminds me of another time in a borrowed home, and returns me there, when Black Dog’s place was mine to share, if only for a healing while. .
Has it occurred that Black Dog’s pose is much like a running stance? And that when one blocks the surroundings with a mat and frames around him, if you turn his image turned sideways he seems to be in a dream-like gallop past a dream-like wall? There are a couple of beautiful paintings here.
Okay.. now I need to look at it and do some flipping!
Did so and you are right… I didn’t pick up that you were Glenda! But our Missouri friend did and set me straight.
Where are you and how are you?
Nice … the last shot looks a bit like Mykonos, or some other Greek island. Due to the building dome which is evocative. Cheers Jamie
