What happens when you tear up your old bed–and your brother’s???

And then, when my mom gave my brother my bed because I totally destroyed his, what did I do the next night? Look below:
I totally destroyed “my” bed (now his.) What does she expect when she buys a tough old Scottie and his bro pink beds???? She had to be trained! Notice the proper color of the new bed in the first photo above!!! Scotties rule.

Morrie’s new bed doesn’t have fluffy fill in it and is not cloth but some microfiber. I’m hoping it will make it, but last night an hour after I stuffed it into her cage as it is a bit too large, I heard noise and came out to find foot long shreds all over it and the back 1/2 soaked. I couldn’t believe it that he’d destroyed it in one hour. I opened the cage and scolded him and he ran outside. I couldn’t figure out what those long shreds were, but when I pulled the bed out, it seemed to be intact. Then I realized that the shreds were foot-long pieces of grass and when I found dog food mixed in with it I realized he’d eaten grass (without chewing it) and thrown up. The liquid I thought was pee was from throwing up! Then I felt very bad, took the bed in to wash it off in the shower, cleaned up his cage and put a pillow inside. He wouldn’t get in the cage but just looked up mournfully at me until I had the inspiration to throw his rubber bone inside. Then he cheerfully got inside and curled up on his pillow. Today his new blue bed is clean and dry and will be reinstalled to await its next adventure with Morrie.

Awww. 😦 Poor Morrie. He looks very mischievous though, and certainly in charge of things. Verra nice Morrie old chap!! Hope your stomach has settled down now!

Too funny! I had to shut Tycho in the closet last night because he wouldn’t stop pawing/boxing the TV screen. He doesn’t reins to my voice but waits to see if I’m actually going to get up off the couch and come after him, then he runs!

I was dog sitting my neighbor’s chihuahua. He looks a great deal like Huny dog, but is male and has certain male quirks. One of these is that he likes to dig holes in the bottom of his bed, just like Morrie. He’s 14, so his owners think that he should have grown out of doing that, but no. I call this phenomenon ‘nesting’….Huny dog does it to my carpet (gets scolded severely) and to the sheepskin throw on the couch (she’s shredded some of that), and to her old couch cushion that is her ‘spot’ in the computer room. So maybe it’s some form of doggie exercise or a soothing activity for them? Whatever it is, they ain’t talking.

Both Bonnie and Gibbs “dig” at their bedding, including the sofa (which we keep covered). Several of our dogs have done that and I’m pretty sure it’s instinctive behavior. It doesn’t go away when they get old, either. Bishop did it till his dying day. We try to keep their nails short to limit the potential damage.

Marilyn has made much the same observation, but Morrie carries it far beyond “digging.” He obliterates and spreads his ruins far and wide. He also loves digging in the garden if any soil is left exposed. He has so much energy–would fetch his rubber bone for hours in a row if I could last that long.

Pink? Seriously? No wonder he had to punish you. Clearly, you failed to understand your dog’s need for a masculine environment! Now you know better, right?

Morrie seems to have seperation anxiety— I had rescued greyhounds— they had a lot to learn to be house–buddies. We take so much for granted from animals— Morrie needed something of you that he could relate to.Is he better now that the camp activity is over ???

Yes, Marilyn. Both times he was really naughty was when I was away at camp all week–last year and this year. Other times i’ve been gone there has been someone here at the house to show attention.
