Benign!!!

Good news. I feel since a number of friends have requested news that I need to post that my results came in as benign.  For those of you who haven’t done so yet, please celebrate National Breast Cancer Awareness Month by having mammograms.

About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

My childhood friend I just had breakfast with today had a spot the size of a pin head. She was told to come back in 6 months and when she did, it was the size of a nickel..an especially nasty and fast-growing cancer. After a massive lumpectomy and the removal of lymph glands, she wishes she had told them to take it out when first seen. Repeating this here as an incentive to stay vigilant…I agree.

I do.. and also have checks in Mexico if I don’t make it to the states. Since I’ve been on Medicare, I’ve come to the states once a year for a wellness check, but after the accident I was especially worried so wanted to make sure everything was okay.

That’s a good strategy — perhaps worth a trip to the States every year just for the wellness exam! My sister lived in Italy, had breast cancer, and it was caught in a public screening, but since we don’t have the same care benefits, Medicare does an excellent job of protecting us from such issues (or dealing with them. My eyes have cost me a total of less than $200 for eye drops, and nothing for the surgeries!
