The white bird of paradise plant is often mistaken for a banana tree. It is immense and the flowers so high up that they may be overlooked.

I’ve only seen one white bird of paradise — in the San Diego Zoo, which has a wonderful collection of plant life as well as the animals! It’s a rare flower, and oh, so beautiful!

Not a big proponent of zoos, but I love the San Diego Zoo. If I ever make it back there, I’ll come get you and we’ll visit it together.

I’ll save one of my passes for you! They are working on some major upgrades, and have just opened several that I’ve not yet seen!

Gorgeous photo!
My husband and I saw a lot of birds of paradise in Costa Rica. We even have a really cool photo of one with a hummingbird drinking from it.

They’ve always been a favorite of mine. Glad to have them growing in my yard now.

We have one of the giant strelizias in the back garden and goodness’ knows how it got there as we most certainly didn’t plant it! A seed via a bird’s bottom several years ago, I guess!
It must be around 7 or 8 metres tall by now.
This is a beautiful photo.
