Topically Distracted

I’m reblogging this blog because in it I list ten new prompt sites. Since some have altered their process and URL to pingback to, I’m reprinting it . I believe it is all current information, plus I’ve added a few new sites to the list. Let me know if any of the information doesn’t work for you. Please check them all out and support some of the ones that haven’t gained a lot of followers yet. Ironically, some of the easiest to post on have the fewest people contributing to them. These folks have gone to a lot of work to furnish us with what WordPress has taken away, so support them if you have the time. I’ve included the poem that I wrote two weeks ago because I imagine a number of you are having the same experiences in trying to adapt to the new prompt sites. Glad to see you all here!!! Judy

Topically Distracted

When WordPress put us out to dry,
turning a deaf ear to our cry
not to suspend the Daily Post,
I think it disillusioned most.
Yet, so many rose to hear our plight
that now I labor day and night
to fulfill the prompts they host.
I fear offending if I don’t post.
So though outside the air’s a balm,
the flowers lush, the scene all calm,
I feel my obligation’s rush.
I feel each lined-up prompting’s crush.

Each jostles to be first in line
like a regular at opening time.
So though outside it’s tropical,
and therefore very topical,
I cannot feel the scene before me.
Sun, trees, water only bore me.
Even the palm trees do not sway.
No wind  rustles them today.
And though the prompt is “tropical,”
my mind is stuck on “topical.”
I must admit that I’m distracted.
With prompts, I fear…

About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

Judy, I don’t see a 13 June post on your website relating to RDP # 13 – Smorgasbord. If this one here is the one you were referring to, I think the problem is that the links must be in the intro part, not the re-blogged part. Does that make sense? Your intro has no links. Links are within the original post, and the link in your original post goes back to our home page. Comments/pingbacks are not available for the homepage (nor on anyone else’s from what I can gather, except if the About page doubles as a homepage). All pingbacks must be linked to individual posts (not the homepage address). The one you did on the 12th worked just fine, because you linked it directly to the avatism post.

Now I could be just talking complete rubbish, but that’s what I’ve discovered since getting involved in the RDP. I hope I haven’t confused you further (or myself for that matter). Regards. Tracy.

No.. It gets confusing and I appreciate the time you took in your answer. I linked the original post only to Ragtag and I think the problem was that I expected it to show up immediately, not knowing that you don’t publish them until someone has reviewed them first. I think it is there now. I suggested you tell people this as two other bloggers also were afraid because their links and comments were not being seen. I think they’ve done so now. Wow. How many comments and emails have gone back and forth, huh? But eventually, each one seems to clear up a problem. Thanks, Tracy–Judy

Embeecee, at the bottom of the post there is a link to the original post that finishes the poem and gives the list of prompt sites with links. I did it this way so people would get the correct links no matter which blog they went to first and I’d only have to correct one in case other changes come in. Check it again and hit the link for the original blog at the very bottom. J
