Great Pains

4:15  A.M.

Nothing in life competes with pain.
It wins the race time and again.
Compared with every other force,
it is the thing that stays the course.

All the usual distractions
are in the end, merely abstractions.
Just one reality remains.
Avoidance measures it disdains.

Though we make take great pains to miss it,
in vain we toil to dismiss it.
All else in life becomes inane
when its competitor is pain.

      If you are talking about the photo I took, no, Janet, I wasn’t taking them all. I just emptied a bag I had that had all old pain medications from years past as well as the couple I was using now as an illustration. Turns out most of those were years out of date and I threw them away. I’m actually really reluctant to take pain meds and usually wait until it is unbearable before I take them…even after surgery. That photo was pure hyperbole!!!

        Sorry to see the shot was so temporary in its effect. I hope the rest gave you some relief, though, and the next dose of meds will help! Do take care, and feel better quickly!

      Went to dr. Got a steroid/anti-inflammatory injection and pills for pain and to reduce inflammation..So far the injection has worked. Taking it easy for a week to see if this does the job. Thanks for your good wishes.

          I wonder if it is like icy hot? My shot from yesterday seems to have worn off about 5:30 this morning so took the pills two hours early.. we’ll see if they do the job. Darn. Thought I had this licked. We’ll see….
