Wings

Every year around this time, thousands of winged termites descend upon this region, land all around my house and in my pool, chew off their wings and go in search of wood. Here are a few of the piles of wings I found on the stairs to my garage and in front of every door, not to mention covering the surface of my pool.
Sunday Stills Challenge with the topic of #Wings.
When I first saw the photo of the termite wings I thought they were maple keys. I hope they haven’t found any tasty wood to feast on at your place.

Judy, I’m so pleased you joined us for Sunday Stills with your winged photos! Love the moth on the yellow wall, and those abandoned termite wings are strangely beautiful!

Those wings look ominous! I didn’t realize that termites chew off their wings before hunting for wood — I hope they don’t find any in your house!

Not my cup of tea, termites destroyed our dining room in Houston and it was rebuilt by my oldest son.

No, I’m not too fond of them, either.
